Shinkansen Carbody under Vertical Load
We develop the carbody structure that stands various loading conditions required. This figure shows the FEM structural analysis for vertical loading.
Virtual structural test.
Higher strength is required for the export type train cars. It makes strength analysis on the design stage more important. The figures show the results of stress analyses for two types of the cars.

Basic Study on Structual Optimaization.
Optimization technology is used for designing hollow extrusion. This example shows the optimization result for obtaining higher rigidity for the two load cases, under constraint of reducing mass of desigin domain by half.
Basic Study on Structural Optimization
Reducing the vehicle weight contributes to not only improving the performance of vehicle but also turning out the environment-friendly rail vehicle. With the structural optimization method, we'll turn out the more environment-friendly rail vehicles.
For the Safety ...
Today, the carbody structure is required to provide considering effective crashworthiness for passenger safety. We develop the crashworthiness-structure with numerical simulation for various collision case. The figure shows the crash analysis result of head-on collision. We find that the energy absorbing structure at the head of the carbody absorbs crash energy during a collision, and keeps passengers and crews from injury.
Offset Collision Analysis of Railway Carbody for Passenger's Safety
When the derailed train hits the other one, the offset collision occurs. We analyzed this collision case, and succeeded to improve the carbody structure for the passenger safety.@
